The Stroll

The slideshow below depicts our visit to the Carmelite Convent.   These women are amazing. This place is so spiritual and tranquil.  Some pictures may look familiar since I was there last year with the confirmation class.  Today, we took groceries.  Our parish donates money and food to this convent, since these nuns self-sustain themselves.  They live in a convent with no heat or air-conditioning.  We were lucky today since all the nuns came out to see us.  They never go out or see the public except for special visitors.  Raquel is a member of our parish and drives there every weekend.  She is their angel and volunteers so much of her time to do this.  Her husband is the elementary school principle.  Some of you may have received some of the Christmas cards they paint and sale for extra money.  After our visit, we took a stroll down the park across the street.  It was a busy Sunday afternoon and the area was so inviting with shops and interesting things to see.  We came across a pet cemetary.  If you have ever been to Japan, you will notice how pets are treated like family.  The Japanese spare no expense when it comes to their pets burial.  It was intersting to see the flowers, cans of cat food, and other trinkets by the cremation canister.  (When viewing the slideshow, click on view all images for a nicer picture).  We are down to our last week of school, then the kids are out for the summer.
