Saturday Chores

Larissa, Myia, and Isabell-  Isabell is soon heading to Alaska, so Larissa will miss her.  Myia will be headed to Turkey in September.  Myia is half Japanese and can speak the language fluently. The girls had a fun time with a Friday night sleep over followed by a movie on Saturday.

Good Morning, today is Saturday and we are back to 4:15am sun rises.  Usually, Rene and I are up by 4:30am and off to the flightline for a morning run.  Today was a rainy day here and we were out doing our volunteer duties for the Ekiden run this weekend.  We are expecting 7-10,000 Japanese runners on Sunday hosted by our very own Striders running club.  Since I have been running with the Striders, Rene and I are going to finally break down and join the club.  They are group of great people and friends and run all over Japan.  With just a one time entry fee of $15.00, they will provide bus transportation and pay for all running fees.  Not a bad deal. This year my goal is to climb Mt. Fuji and maybe run the Tokyo Marathon.  The training can be intense.
I am back at my computer with the days events.  At 3:00 pm, the sun broke through and it turned out to be a beautiful day.  This is the time of year when we see many visitors on base, from family members to friends.  People are out bike riding, touring, and browsing along the way.  After a movie with the girls, we headed to our local BXextra to purchase a bike for Rene.  He has been hunting for a bike for some time and finally found the one he wanted.  Call it an early fathers day gift.  We ended our day with a nice bike ride.
Tomorrow we will head into Tokyo to help take donations to the Carmelite Sisters.  Have a great weekend!
