Update
Rene emailed me today. Here is his email-Ronda, I finally made it to the north of .....The city is called....... I was right. I arrived to ......... last night around 1:30am your time. Around 1130...time. What an adventure. A very nice van picked me up at the airport to bring me here. It took six and a half hours. Yes, I said that right, six and half hours. I swear the guy driving this van could not speak a lick of english and to top it off he was falling asleep at the wheel constantly. With a few Hail Mary's and Our Fathers I was able to make it hear at 6:30am this morning. Thanks for the picture you snuck into my bag, it keeps me strong willed and optomistic. The people here are very poor. Anyway, I am here and safe. Hope to talk to you soon. Love Rene

Hi all, thanks for keeping us posted. I thought Rene was going with others from the base. It sounds like he is on the adventure on his own.Hmmm. In any case we are praying all goes well on your humanitarian trip.
