Go Panthers!

Your Out!  Renie's tailbone was hurting yesterday due to a collision he had with another player in Misawa.

Yesterday we spent the day out at the ball field supporting our Yokota Baseball Panther team.  They played ASFJ, an international school in Tokyo, mostly made of Embassy kids.  The Panthers lost 6 to 7 the first game, and 8-18 the second.  Overall, the boys did great.  Our team is mostly made up of freshmans and they have really improved.  It was a wonderful sunny day to be out and about.  After the game Rene took me to finally buy my bike.  I love it!  I will post pictures later.  Today is Mothers Day here and we will go to church then head out to the brewery for a nice lunch.  A bike ride is planned for later today.

The Dental Quacks

When there is nothing to do in Yokota, there is always something to do.  Tonight we were invited to our friends Mike and Sheila's birthday party.  Mike is a pediatric dentist and Sheila is a lawyer, so there was a mix of dental, medical, and law people present.  So, to sum it up, if you had a toothache, pain, or needed some legal advice, this was the place to be.  We had a great time and met yet some more great people.

All Clear

Rene arrived safely here at home. He was lucky enough to fly bussiness class over to Chicago and back. He has a patient from Tokyo who knows someone at the airport and fixes Rene up on either first class or bussiness class. What a life! As he sat on the airplane at Narita, a team of Japanese wearing white coats, goggles, gloves and masks entered the plane with infrared equipment. They checked each passenger for a fever. Rene thought, holy shit, and felt as if he was contaminated. He actually thought is was pretty funny. He was cleared and caught the bus home.

This has been a hectic week with Rene being gone. I know I do most of the running around, but evening functions are getting crazy. Last night was Renie's band concert. He looked so handsome with his dad's tie, which by the way I had to log into U-Tube to learn how to tie a tie. After three times, I finally mastered it. Larissa won Citizen of the Month and received a certificate today. She was dressed for the occasion, but it was a surprise. After a month in a half, my boxes from the states finally arrived. The kids had an early Christmas. Larissa loved all her clothes and shoes. The days here remain a cool 45 in the morning, warming up nicely through the day. School will be wrapping up soon, so the kids remain busy with school work. Renie continues with good grades, however baseball trips around Japan are making his life stressful. He has to hustle to get work done before he leaves. He leaves for Misawa at midnight tonight. They will travel through the night and come home Sunday. I am proud of him for making an effort to keep up with his honors classes and play sports. I don't remember my high school classes being this rigorous. Oh, maybe it was because we didn't have honors classes.

The Hybrid Flu

Rene is currently in Chicago for the week. Well, I hope he can return home. Japan is already monitoring those entering into the country by scanning them for a fever. If their body temperature is high, they will be quarantined. I told Rene, just stay in your hotel room. This virus is spreading and sounds pretty scary. Folks back home: wash your hands, don't go to Mexico, and wear a mask like the Japanese people. Oh, and don't eat pork.
